Swinging But Grounded: How to Find Clarity In Business Chaos

behind the scenes financial clarity founder's journey mindset resilience Apr 19, 2025

Picture this: it's dusk in Turkey. The sky is a soft shade of lavender. I'm standing on one of those foot swings - you know the ones where you alternate your feet back and forth like a some sort of dance. There were other people around, but I was completely on my own for the first time in my life in a foreign country. No friends. No family. Just me, my thoughts, and the steady rhythm of my own feet moving.

This wasn't just a holiday. It was my first bold step into the unknown. And honestly? I had no idea it would teach me so much about running a business.

You see, starting and building a business feels a lot like that foot swing. One moment you're moving forward, full of energy and plans. The next, you're pulled back by doubt, by a curveball, or by your own overthinking. You're constantly shifting, adjusting, correcting.

Sound familiar?

Welcome to entrepreneurship, my friend. It's messy. It's beautiful. And, yes, it's utterly unpredictable.

I Love Predictability in Business - But Life? Not So Much.

Here's the weird truth: I crave predictability in business. I love systems, plans, and clarity. But when it comes to life? Give me spontaneity and adventure every single time. Predictability in life bores me; unpredictability in business stresses me out. It’s a funny little paradox I’ve been wrestling with since I started BELIGHT Hub.

When you launch a business, especially your first, it's easy to underestimate how much your emotions will swing. You expect some ups and downs, sure, but nobody really warns you about the constant motion. Ideas changing. Plans evolving. Emotions shifting day-to-day.

And let me be brutally honest here: I hate that feeling. I hate when plans shift, when ideas bounce back and forth like ping-pong balls. But I'm learning to make peace with it.

Because here's the truth:

Stability Isn't About Standing Still.

One thing I've learned (often the hard way!) is that stability doesn't mean nothing ever moves. It means having something solid beneath you when everything else is in motion.

That “something solid”? For me, it's systems. It's clarity. It's financial grounding. Without systems, I'm like a toddler in a toy shop, grabbing whatever shiny thing catches my eye, overwhelmed and distracted. With systems? I'm a focused, steady CEO, capable of navigating even the most unpredictable moments.

I didn’t always have this perspective, though. Let's rewind a bit.

From Chaos to Clarity: The Power of Belief

If you know a bit about my story, you'll know life has thrown some serious curveballs my way. A few years back, I lost everything in a terrifying arson attack. I was left with nothing except the clothes on my back and my sheer belief that things would eventually get better.

And guess what? They did.

That belief - that unshakeable conviction that there’s always light at the end of the tunnel - is what kept me grounded when everything was falling apart. It became the foundation on which I rebuilt my life, one small step at a time.

And now, as I'm starting to build my business, that same belief is what keeps me anchored. Even when I swing back into doubt or confusion, I never truly spiral. Why? Because I know - deep in my bones - that clarity and success are just on the other side of this moment.

Systems Saved My Sanity (and Prepared My Business)

Let’s talk about systems for a sec. I know - systems sound dry. Boring, even. But trust me, when the chaos hits, you'll want those systems in your corner.

Late last year, I made one of my biggest investments yet: a business mentorship. It wasn't cheap. It was intense. But oh my god, it was worth every penny. The systems and strategies I learned didn't just help me prepare to launch my business - they saved my sanity. Because here’s the thing about entrepreneurship: clarity isn't just financial. It’s emotional.

When you’re clear financially, you can breathe easier. You sleep better. You make better decisions. You stop panicking. You start building intentionally.

That’s why I created Glow Check™. It's not just another financial tool - it's an emotional anchor. It's the system that holds you steady while your business swings back and forth. No guessing, no spiralling. Just clarity, strategy, and calm.

Panic Mode: Old Me vs. New Me

A few years back, when my plans swung back and forth, I'd dive straight into panic mode. My solution? Overwork, overthink, and burn myself out trying to force clarity. It felt productive, sure, but it was exhausting and unsustainable.

Fast forward to today. Now, when my swings into uncertainty building my business, I talk myself through it differently:

"Everything doesn't have to be done today. Just thread the needle. One calm move. One clear step."

This advice, courtesy of my mentor, changed everything. It transformed how I approach my days. It's not about doing everything. It's about doing the next right thing. Simple. Calm. Focused.

Resilience Isn’t Just Surviving - It’s Adapting

Funny thing - I didn't even know the word "resilience" until people started using it to describe me after the fire. But now? It's one of my favourite words.

To me, resilience isn't just surviving the hard stuff. It's adapting to it. It's knowing that chaos and calm are part of the same dance. It’s understanding that swinging isn’t failing - it’s growth in motion.

When your business feels chaotic, it doesn't mean you're doing it wrong. It means you're doing something brave enough to be unpredictable. It means you're growing, evolving, becoming.

You Don’t Have to Swing Alone

If your business swings into chaos, please remember:

  1. You're not alone. Every entrepreneur, every founder, every creative experiences this.

  2. Chaos doesn't mean catastrophe. It means growth.

  3. You don’t have to handle it all alone. Asking for help isn't weakness - it’s wisdom.

I built BELIGHT Hub because I saw so many talented, hardworking creatives panic and freeze when their businesses swung into uncertainty. They were brilliant at their craft but terrified of their numbers. I saw them overwork, guess, and stress unnecessarily.

And I realised something crucial: You don’t need another accountant to tick boxes for you. You need clarity. You need calm. You need a system that holds you steady through the swings.

Your Quiet Flex

Back to that moment in Turkey. Watching that 3-second video clip again today, I noticed something powerful. Sure, I’m proud of how I looked physically. But more importantly, I’m proud of how I felt emotionally. Grounded. Calm. Reflective. Proud of how far I'd come and confident about where I was headed - even though I didn't know exactly where that was yet.

That’s the quiet flex.

It's not obvious. It doesn't shout. But it’s there in how I hold myself. It's the calm of someone who trusts herself. Someone who’s building something that can hold her - even in the uncertainty.
